Synopsis

Fresh is a black comedy, crime, dark comedy, drama, gore, horror, romance, slasher, and thriller movie that was released in 2022. It tells the story of Noa, a young girl who is looking for her dream man through online dating. However, she gets disappointed after trying it out and gives up on dating until she meets a handsome man named Steve at a supermarket. They exchange numbers, go on a date, and eventually become intimate.

After a few dates, Steve invites Noa on a weekend getaway for two. However, her close friend, Molly, advises against it because she’s worried that the man Noa met is dangerous. Noa ignores Molly’s advice and goes on the date with Steve. However, she is drugged, abducted, and wakes up in a bunker with her hands tied. She becomes hysterical and afraid, especially when Steve explains that he is a human butcher who supplies human flesh, especially women’s, to his wealthy clients for consumption.

To keep the meat fresh, he keeps his victims alive as long as possible. Noa goes into a panic. While she is his captive, Steve allows her to clean up, but Noa uses this opportunity to escape. Steve is furious and punishes her by keeping her in confinement for a longer time before allowing her to clean up again. Noa becomes friends with Penny, another captive who is held in the adjacent room. They communicate with each other and check on each other’s condition.

As Noa is missing for a long time, Molly becomes worried and investigates with the help of her friend Paul, who works at a bar where Noa and Molly hang out. Paul had served Noa and Steve at the bar, so he has Steve’s credit card details. Upon online search, Mollie finds out that Steve is actually a man named Brendan who is married to a woman named Ann and has a child. Molly meets Ann and tells her everything. During their conversation, Brendan arrives. Molly asks him questions, but he denies her accusations.

Curious, Molly calls Noa’s phone. Her phone rings from Ann’s house. Ann, who is actually in cahoots with her husband about their cannibalistic enterprise, hits Molly and takes her to her residence, where Brendan processes all his victims. Noa starts losing hope until she reads a magazine left in her cell. In that magazine, it is written; “If he hasn’t hurt you yet, that means he likes you. Use it as a weapon to escape.”

Realizing that she has not been harmed means there is a possibility that Steve likes her. She manipulates herself by saying she wants to know how human meat tastes after preparation, and the next night, Brendan invites her to dinner. He serves human meat in the form of meatball spaghetti, which Noa actually enjoys despite the disgust that the thought of it brings. When she returns to her cell, she vomits it all out but has to stay composed to keep Steve interested. The following night, Steve brings dinner again, and they become intimate.

Before the dinner, Steve reveals a secret compartment containing belongings of his victims. Noa sees Molly’s phone among the lot. In a last-ditch attempt to escape, Noa uses the spaghetti to kill Steve, prays that help will come, and waits until someone finds her.
