Renowned Mangaka Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has recently announced that he will be taking time off for an eye operation. As a result, the popular One Piece manga will be on a break for a month. The announcement was made via a handwritten post on the official One Piece social media account and website one-piece.com on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

In the post, Eiichiro Oda shared that four chapters of the One Piece manga would be on break, which are from Weekly Shonen Jump issues no. 29, 30, 31, and 32. This means that the manga will be on hiatus for one month. Oda also joked about the reason for his surgery, saying that he would be shooting beams or laser with his eyes. The post included an illustration of Franky shooting laser from his eyes, while Luffy and Chopper looked impressed with the action.

However, Oda also expressed concern and admitted that he has astigmatism, which affects his vision and work. He consulted with his chief editor and has decided to take a hiatus for four weeks. He promised to return with better eyesight and requested fans to wait and give him time.

Although some fans expressed sadness that they will not get the latest One Piece chapter for a month, they also offered prayers for Oda’s speedy recovery.
