Eiichiro Oda introduces a new character in One Piece 1085, Holy Knight’s captain, who is revealed to be the twin of Yonko Akagami no Shanks, holding a remarkable devil fruit power. The information was shared by Oda along with the news of nine divine knights, the Holy Knight.
Since the appearance of Holy Knight in One Piece, Yonko Akagami no Shanks has always been associated with the Im Sama’s elite forces. The revelation of Holy Knight’s captain turned out to be the replica of Akagami no Shanks, sharing similar posture, sword, and appearance, did not surprise Oda fans as the mangaka himself had hinted about the existence of Shanks’ twin in the past.
In one of the SBS columns of One Piece, Oda was asked about the possibility of having two Shanks in the story. The question arose after Akagami no Shanks was surprisingly shown meeting Gorosei. Shanks appeared different than before, without his iconic scar that he received from his fight with Kurohige.
Oda is known for revising his artwork if there is any mistake, and surprisingly, he made no correction even after Shanks’ changed looks. Moreover, Oda’s answer regarding the possibility of two Shanks in One Piece was censored, possibly indicating the confirmation of Shanks’ twin in Holy Knight.
As the captain of Holy Knight, Shanks’ twin possesses an excellent devil fruit power, whereas the original red-haired Shanks is a non-devil fruit user. The circular pattern of Holy Knight’s silhouette is believed to be a hint from Oda regarding his devil fruit power, which could be the strongest in the One Piece universe.
The devil fruit in question is the logia water fruit, Mizu Mizu no Mi, which can counter the effects of seawater. Even former Impel Down head Shiryuu stated that the world government’s agents possess unique devil fruit powers. Hence, it is entirely possible for Shanks’ twin to have the strongest fruit in One Piece.
