In the 2018 movie “Death Wish,” directed by Eli Roth and written by Joe Carnahan, Bruce Willis stars as Paul Kersey, a trauma surgeon who works at a hospital in Chicago. After his wife Lucy is killed and his daughter Jordan is severely wounded in a home invasion, Paul becomes a vigilante, seeking revenge against those who harmed his family. “Death Wish” is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name, which was based on a novel by Brian Garfield.

The Brutal Attack

One day, Paul tries to save a cop who has been shot, but the policeman dies on the operating table. The officer’s colleague blames Paul for not trying harder to save him. A few days later, while dining at a restaurant with Lucy and Jordan and Paul’s brother Frank, they are secretly photographed by a parking valet, Miguel, who is acting suspiciously.

Later that night, while Paul is at work, three burglars break into his home. They demand that Lucy give them all of her family’s valuables, and they kidnap Jordan when she tries to fight back. One of the burglars beats and shoots Lucy, killing her.

The Vigilante Emerges

After Lucy’s funeral, Paul becomes frustrated that the police have not made any progress in catching the burglars. He tries to buy a gun but is unsure about the procedure for obtaining a permit. At the hospital, Paul treats a gunshot victim who is a member of a gang. The victim’s gun drops on the floor, and Paul hides it under his bed.

The Vigilante Continues

Paul continues his search for the burglars and kills a drug dealer known as the “Ice Cream Man” and his henchmen. He discovers that his patient, Miguel, was involved in the home invasion and the theft of his valuables. Miguel dies, and Paul finds his stolen watch in Miguel’s belongings.

Using Miguel’s phone, Paul tracks down the burglars and seeks revenge against them.
