However, in the process, some characters’ actions have the potential to cause more chaos if not stopped or solved. 1. Julius Neglects His Seal
At the beginning of the story, Julius Novachrono, the successor to the Magic Emperor who replaced Conrad, successfully sealed Conrad along with the Imperial Sword Elsdocia, the empire’s sword belonging to Lemiel Silvamillion Clover. However, when the kingdom was attacked by reincarnated elves, Julius was fatally wounded by Patolli. As a result of his injuries, Julius aged to the size of a child, weakening the seal that binds Conrad. Unfortunately, Julius did not realize this, and Conrad took advantage of the situation to free himself and prepare a more mature strategy.
2. Marx Acts Recklessly
Marx Francois, the Magic Emperor’s advisor, also made a significant mistake. He became anxious when he saw Julius being approached by Conrad and without thinking struck against Conrad. Marx was not specialized in direct combat, and he didn’t know that Conrad’s magic key could be used to steal other people’s magic attributes. Consequently, Conrad learned a lot of important things, from information about the Magic Knights to the existence of Branch Zero, where Asta, Finral, and Noelle were sent to retrieve the devices that Sally and Nero had been preparing.
3. Delayed Action by the Squad Captains
Except for Vangeance, Jack the Ripper, and Charlotte who were on a mission somewhere, the remaining squad captains of the Magic Knights were present at the Triumph festival arena, except for Yami who was attending to his personal business. Unfortunately, they did not take action immediately after Conrad and his ally appeared. They opted to evacuate the residents first, which seemed like an action that could be left to the squad members. It’s surprising that none of the squad captains was quick to realize Conrad’s presence before he attacked.
4. Yami Refuses to Go to Branch Zero
Julius asked Yami Sukehiro to go to Branch Zero, the secret laboratory where the magical device in the form of a cloth created by Lemiel, the Elsdocia, was being developed by Sally and Nero. However, Yami refused and instead sent Asta, Noelle, and Finral there to keep an eye on Julius. They didn’t take into account the possibility that Conrad would use Marx’s magic to know the location of Branch Zero and beat them there. If Yami had joined the trio, their chances of winning against Conrad might have increased.
5. Noelle Falls into Conrad’s Trap
Conrad showed three squad captains who were already powerless and provoked Noelle by saying that her brother, Nozel, was weak. Noelle became angry and attacked without thinking. As a result, Conrad stopped Noelle’s movement and locked her grimoire, robbing her of her Water Magic attribute. Consequently, Noelle lost most of her magic ability.
6. Asta Becomes Careless
As Asta battles with Conrad, he manages to break the Elsdocia’s spell and nullify all magic derived from the Imperial Sword, including the three former Magic Emperors raised by Conrad. However, Asta was careless after successfully thwarting the Elsdocia mantra and letting Conrad fall, not taking effective action to take him down completely. Conrad used this opportunity to recite the forbidden mantra, Doom’s Gate, and summoned a massive sphere that had the potential of destroying the entire kingdom.
