Eiichiro Oda, the mangaka and writer of the One Piece anime, is known for creating a wide range of characters, including some of the most absurd ones. In this article, we will briefly discuss the journeys of four absurd but important characters in One Piece created by Oda.
Big Mom, also known as Charlotte Linlin, was raised in Elbaf but was left by her parents due to her dangerous and troublesome nature. Despite growing up with a motherly figure, Big Mom has devoured her own friends and even her own mother. Streusen adopted her and made her the Big Mom we know today, even fulfilling her desire to have her own island. Big Mom eventually became a Sea Empress after the death of Roger and successfully built Totoland. However, the rules in Totoland are strict, and no one who enters the island is allowed to leave.
Crocodile, a young and cunning man who lost one of his hands, has a confrontational ambition with Shirohige. He became a member of the Shichibukai pirate alliance and was a protector of the people of Alabasta, though he destroyed the kingdom and planned to overthrow the king. He also helped Luffy and Ace escape from Impel Down and fought against Mihawk, Doflamingo, and Akainu in Marineford. After escaping from Marineford, he gave Buggy his trust and formed the Cross Guild, a group of sailor hunters, with Mihawk.
Doflamingo, born as a nobleman, seeks revenge against his father and the Tenryubito by killing his own father and becoming a demon child. He massacred the people of Dressrosa to take over the country and enslaves them for ten years. He was eventually defeated but was still a target for assassins.
Marco joined the Shirohige crew at the age of 14 and matured by fighting against Roger’s Gang, among others. In the One Piece anime, Marco is the commander of the first division and the second in command of Shirohige. He has a strong bond with Ace and has protected him during battles until he died. Marco also protected Nami during her fight against Kaidou and even went back to Sphynx Island to save Edward Weevil.
In conclusion, despite the absurdity of these four characters, Big Mom, Crocodile, Doflamingo, and Marco have proven to be essential and iconic characters in the One Piece anime created by Eliichiro Oda. Each has unique backstories that contribute to their compelling story arcs and make them memorable to fans worldwide.
